Sculptor-jewellery designer Charles Duret's studio is in the 1282 "Maison de la Monnaie du Roy" (royal mint) in one of France's most beautiful villages, Bastide Royale de Domme, which overlooks the Dordogne Valley. This atypical, self-taught gold- and silversmith knocked about a while and seduced women around the world with his creations before settling down to exhibit and sell his timeless, original jewellery, which has been winning over many fashion designers for a long time. You can see his creations, gilt with fine 24-carat gold or plated with silver on a layer of bronze, every day from 10am to 7:30pm. Mr Duret is recognised for his art and has just received the title Maître Artisan d’Art ("master craftsman").
